It is with great regret that on behalf of the McKinney Police Association I must inform you of our intent to withdraw from the meet and confer negotiations with the city. We are thankful to have had the meet and confer process and dedicated ourselves to the efforts, but with twelve months invested we have realized no progress.
To be clear, we recognize the efforts of the city and those who served on the meet and confer panel and do believe in respect to effort and communication there has been progress. However, we, the MPA, started the process with a short list of priorities and to this point the meet and confer process has not yielded any results toward our clearly stated priorities.
During our time involved in the
process we have actually lost benefits, and you can see in the attached survey
where we currently stand in comparison to our benchmark cities.
The survey, which is simply a comparison of approved benchmark cities pay
and benefits, speaks for itself, and even clearer to the commitment of the City
of
I have stated in many forums and meetings that the MPA membership is frustrated, restless and demanding results. I can see morale dipping and I fear it will continue to worsen. For the sake of our officers, the department, and the well being of our city I ask that you as an elected official take a close look at our dilemma and commit yourself to a resolution.
